Del Chillman is an amateur cryptozoologist, searching for myths such as the Loch Ness Monster and the Yeti. The latter of which led him to become a weather reporter and DJ at a weather station in the Himalayas.

Physical appearance[]

Del is an obese man in his young adult years. He has light brown hair tied in a ponytail and also wears purple sunglasses.

Personality[]

He is a hippy and a keen believer in mythological monsters, who lets his obsessions of them take him across the world.

History[]

Scooby-Doo! and the Loch Ness Monster[]

The gang first encountered Del when they visited Loch Ness. He was rather obsessed with the Loch Ness Monster and aided the gang in solving the mystery. Although his van was stolen, he still managed to help catch the fake monster. Afterwords, he received strange pictures coming from the lost camera and decided to stay in Scotland in search of the real monster.[2]

Chill Out, Scooby-Doo![]

Del was next encountered when the gang came to rescue Shaggy Rogers and Scooby-Doo in the Himalayas. He was running a radio station reporting weather, but this was a cover for his secret research on the Yeti. Once again he aided the gang and even saved some of their lives as they went after the fake monster. It was revealed to be a plan by Minga Sherpa to get him to stay in the Himalayas, as she had a crush on him from hearing him on the radio. He was flattered by her actions. In the light of this and a new Yeti sighting, he decided to stay. He and Minga then followed the gang to Paris for a romantic vacation, but it didn't last long, as Fred Jones had accidentally wound up in the Amazon jungle, and they all had to retrieve him.[1]

Appearances[]

Notes/trivia[]

  • Del is one of the very rare characters to not only appear more than once in a Scooby-Doo DTV, but to also have a prominent role. Despite multiple appearances, he lacks the fame of other recurring characters such as the Hex Girls.
